June 16, 2022

Hamilton County municipalities have until 2 p.m., Thursday, June 30 to submit applications for the second annual round of SORTA’s Transit Infrastructure Fund grants.
CINCINNATI – There’s never been a better time to come onboard as a bus operator, now that the Southwest Ohio Regional Transit Authority and the Amalgamated Transit Union Local 627 have struck a new agreement, guaranteeing better pay, benefits and stability than anytime in Metro’s history.

As part of our ongoing efforts to address a continued driver shortage and to help keep up with expanding service, Metro is aggressively recruiting new bus operators to join our team. Under the new union contract, Metro operators enjoy competitive pay and benefits, including:

– Paid training at $19 per hour, which includes CDL training and reimbursement for CDL licensing fees
– Once trained, a starting wage of $21 per hour
– Opportunities to earn premium pay rates on high-demand routes
– $2,000 signing bonus upon completion of training and 95-day probationary period
– Pay increases every six months

Metro also provides comprehensive health and dental benefits, retirement benefits and discounted transportation passes for a spouse and dependents.

Those interested in this opportunity are invited to Metro’s upcoming career fair on Saturday, June 11, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at our Queensgate Division (1401 Bank Street).

No RSVP is required, but interested parties are encouraged to submit an application at go-metro.com/careers prior to attending, if possible.
