In celebration of “Ohio Loves Transit Week,” Feb. 10-14, Metro will join the Ohio Public Transit Association (OPTA) and transit systems across the state in thanking riders for their support and encouraging new riders to fall in love with transit by giving Metro a try.

Every day, tens of thousands of people depend on Metro to get them to school, work, health care and other important destinations. In Ohio and beyond, transit drives the economy, with national statistics showing that every $1 invested in public transit generates $4 in economic return.

To encourage new riders to try the bus, Metro will distribute free one-ride tickets via the Transit app. To receive a free ticket, simply download Transit app with EZFare, create an account and make a purchase. Any user who has purchased a ticket through Transit app since October, when the app began selling Metro fare, will automatically receive a one-ride ticket. New users must make their first purchase at any ticket value by Feb. 12 to be eligible.

Metro staff will also be on Government Square Thursday, Feb. 13, talking to riders about why transit is important to them and thanking them with a special Ohio Loves Transit Day treat.

Riders are encouraged to share on social media why public transportation is important in their lives using the hashtag #OhioLovesTransit and to keep an eye on Metro’s Facebook and Twitter accounts for more chances to win prizes all week long.
