Fountain Square event on Sept. 22 to feature live music, pizza, and vendors
CINCINNATI – Metro is proud to introduce Cincinnati’s first Car Free Day on Sept. 22, joining an international movement that encourages motorists to give up their automobiles for a day and promotes public transit, bicycling, walking, carpooling and telecommuting.

In honor of the day, all rides on Metro and Access paratransit service will be free on Sept. 22. The public is also invited to join the fun at the Car Free Day Cincy event, from 11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. on Fountain Square.

Join Metro for a celebration that features:
•Brief remarks from Metro CEO Darryl Haley and Southwest Ohio Regional Transit Authority Board Chairman Kreg Keesee
•Live music from the band 3 Piece Revival
•Free pizza from Snappy Tomato Pizza
•Exhibitions from a variety of organizations, including FC Cincinnati, Cincinnati Cyclones, TANK, Cincinnati Bell Connector streetcar, Red Bike, Tri-State Trails/CROWN and more
•Giveaways and prizes

“Metro is excited to join communities across the globe in shining a light on the importance of decreasing individuals’ reliance on cars and celebrating alternative modes of getting where they need to go,” said Metro CEO Darryl Haley. “With the recent rollout of our far-reaching Reinventing Metro service improvements, we’re working to make it easier than ever to enjoy the many benefits of public transit whether you choose to ride for environmental, cost savings or convenience purposes.”

People living or working in Greater Cincinnati can also take a Car Free Cincy Pledge through Sept. 25 at www.go-metro.com/carfreedaycincy. They will be registered to win prizes including Cincinnati Reds gift baskets and tickets, a Cincinnati Cyclones family four-pack, a $100 Hard Rock Casino gift card, a family package to Escape Room and free Metro bus passes.
