Metro To Celebrate 2Nd Annual Car Free Day Cincy With Party, Prizes On Fountain Square

This event celebrates the international movement to encourage motorists to give up their automobiles for a day and instead use public transit, bike, walk, carpool or telecommute.
CINCINNATI – Metro is proud to host its second annual Car Free Day Cincy on Thursday, Sept. 22, 11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. on Fountain Square. This event celebrates the international movement to encourage motorists to give up their automobiles for a day and instead use public transit, bike, walk, carpool or telecommute.
In honor of the day, the public is invited to join in the fun at Metro’s Car Free Day Cincy event, that will feature:
– Brief remarks from Metro CEO Darryl Haley, Southwest Ohio Regional Transit Authority Board Chairman Kreg Keesee & City Councilman Mark Jeffreys
– Live music by 3 Piece Revival Band
– Free pizza from Snappy Tomato Pizza
– Exhibitions and booths from a variety of partner organizations, including FC Cincinnati, Cincinnati Cyclones, TANK, The Connector (streetcar), Red Bike, Tri-State Trails/CROWN and more
– Giveaways and prizes
“In just its second year, Car Free Day Cincy has already become one of our favorite days of the year at Metro,” said Brandy Jones, SVP, External Affairs at Metro. “As we continue to roll out the next phase of Reinventing Metro in the coming months – including our new, on-demand service – we’re proud to continue working to make it easier than ever for people across our community to decrease their reliance on cars.”
We also encourage people living or working in Greater Cincinnati to take our Car Free Cincy Pledge through 11:59 p.m. on Sept. 22 at www.carfreedaycincy.com. Those who take the pledge will be registered to win prizes including a $250 Visa gift card, a family four-pack of tickets to the Cyclones home opener, a $100 gift card to Hard Rock Café, free Metro bus passes and more.
