Multiple Metro routes will see minor time changes and increased frequency in the mornings and afternoons in preparation for the beginning of a new Cincinnati Public Schools (CPS) academic year. The changes will go into effect Sunday, Aug. 14.CINCINNATI – Multiple Metro routes will see minor time changes and increased frequency in the mornings and afternoons in preparation for the beginning of a new Cincinnati Public Schools (CPS) academic year. The changes will go into effect Sunday, Aug. 14.

Late last month, the Southwest Ohio Regional Transit Authority (SORTA) Board of Trustees approved a new contract with the school district, providing subsidized Metro bus passes for eligible 9th-12th-graders. On Aug. 1, the CPS Board of Education also approved the new agreement.

The majority of the service improvements planned for this month are to accommodate the influx in before- and after-school student riders. Routes impacted with this round of service improvements include: Rts. 4, 6, 11, 15, 17, 20, 24, 28, 30, 31, 32, 33, 37, 41, 42X, 43, 51, 64, 65, and 72.

These service adjustments are a part of Metro’s ongoing efforts to adjust our fixed-route bus service to the evolving needs of the communities we serve and to ensure that service remains as consistent and reliable as possible. These adjustments are especially critical as Metro continues to address the ongoing labor shortage, initiated by the COVID-19 pandemic, without making cuts to service.
