Metro Recognizes Juneteenth as Paid Holiday on Wednesday, June 19
June 19, 2024

Cincinnati, OH— Metro is proud to announce its continued support and observance of Juneteenth on June 19.
In recognition of this significant day in American history, Metro’s administrative office, sales office, and Customer Care Center will be closed on June 19. However, Metro’s service will continue to operate on its weekday schedule, ensuring that the community can still rely on Metro for their transportation needs.
As one of the first organizations in the Cincinnati region to observe Juneteenth as a paid holiday for its team members, Metro remains committed to fostering inclusivity, diversity, and equity within its organization. This decision reflects Metro’s ongoing efforts to create a more inclusive workplace and honor the historical importance of Juneteenth.
“We are excited to carry on our support for Juneteenth and give our employees the chance to honor this significant holiday and recognize Metro’s dedication to fostering a more fair and inclusive society,” said Brandy Jones, Chief Communications and Marketing Officer of Metro. “As a public transportation system, we are devoted to ensuring equal opportunities for all citizens by enhancing access to jobs, healthcare, education, and improving the quality of life in our region.”
Metro team members actively participate in numerous inclusive celebrations throughout the Cincinnati region, including the recent Juneteenth Block Party and the upcoming Cincinnati Pride Parade. By engaging with the community and joining in these festivities, Metro demonstrates its dedication to celebrating all community members.
