In the role, Mr. James Hubbard will play a critical part in facilitating and maintaining Metro’s relationship with its union employees and the Amalgamated Transit Union (ATU) Local 627 chapter.

CINCINNATI – Metro is pleased to announce the addition of a new leader to its employee and union relations team, James Hubbard, who has joined the transit agency as its new Director of Labor Relations.

In the role, Mr. Hubbard will play a critical part in facilitating and maintaining Metro’s relationship with its union employees and the Amalgamated Transit Union (ATU) Local 627 chapter, which recently achieved a historic new agreement guaranteeing better pay, benefits and stability than any other time in Metro’s history. He will also assist in establishing a strategic direction and plan for continued labor and employee relations throughout the company; direct and assist with the resolution of employee grievances and other labor matters; and provide strategic oversight of labor relations issues.

Mr. Hubbard brings more than 15 years’ experience in employee and labor relations, including more than 10 years with the Cincinnati Metropolitan Housing Authority, where he managed employee- and labor-related issues, including investigations, contract administration, performance management, and more. Also a practicing attorney, he brings years of experience in collective bargaining negotiations, labor arbitration, employee grievances and risk management.

Mr. Hubbard received his Bachelor of Science in Labor Studies from Indiana University and his Juris Doctorate from Northern Kentucky University’s Salmon P. Chase School of Law. He is also holds designations as a senior professional in human resources by the Human Resource Certification Institute and senior certified professional from the Society for Human Resource Management.

In his free time, Mr. Hubbard enjoys spending time with his family.
