Metro Kicks Off Transit Employee Appreciation Week By Naming Golden Bus Employees Of The Year

To kick off the week-long recognition of our employees’ dedication, we are proud to announce Metro’s second annual Golden Bus Award recipients, who consistently embodied Metro’s mission to go above and beyond in service to our community and fellow employees.

CINCINNATI – Each year in March, transit agencies across the country rally together to say “Thank You” to all the people who make this vital community service possible: the operators, mechanics, street supervisors, custodians and administrative staff who keep the wheels turning and the engines humming. This year, Metro is excited to extend this celebration all week long with Transit Employee Appreciation Week, culminating with Transit Employee Appreciation Day on Saturday, March 18.

“Metro is all about people; on one hand, we provide people with connections to jobs, education, health care, entertainment and more. But on the other hand, we couldn’t do it without the dedicated people who make it their life’s work to serve their communities,” said CEO & General Manager Darryl Haley. “While we devote this week to showing them our appreciation, we are thankful for their service all year round.”

At a banquet Thursday evening, Metro was proud to recognize the following six individuals, one from each Metro division, for outstanding achievement:

– Linda McAlpin, Queensgate Transit Operations
– Gary Smith, Queensgate Maintenance
– Clausell Marshall, Bond Hill Transit Operations
– Jay Johnson, Access Maintenance
– Steve Doan, Administrative/Support Staff
– Dave Etienne, Leadership Team
